Siliguri, 01st September: In response to the rising violence and sexual assault against women across the country, Siliguri has initiated a special self-defense training program for schoolgirls. The training, organized by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in collaboration with local authorities, started on Sunday in Siliguri’s Ward No. 17.
According to reports, students from Siliguri Girls’ School and Siliguri Hakimpara Girls’ School are participating in the training sessions. Mayor Gautam Deb visited the camp to interact with the students.
This initiative is already being implemented in various other schools in the city. Additionally, the program has been introduced by the 17th ward committee. Students will be taught a basic self-defense course within a week.
