Three unidentified bodies recovered from Teesta barrage in Gajoldoba

Rajganj, 4th October: Three unidentified bodies have been recovered from the Gajoldoba Teesta barrage. Following this, the administration initiated an investigation to ascertain whether the lifeless bodies had been swept away by the flash floods in Sikkim.


It has to be noted that, incessant rainfall on the hills resulted in the damage of a dam on the Teesta River in Sikkim, resulting in a flash flood. A preliminary investigation by the administration indicated that the three bodies, including a woman, had been washed away from the hills to the Gajoldoba barrage due to the strong water current.

As per reports, the bodies have been recovered by the administration; however, the identities of the deceased could not be ascertained. In this regard, Rajganj BDO Pankaj Konar stated the situation to be alarming as the water has risen to a dangerous level. He added that all security measures have been taken. Furthermore, he stated three dead bodies have been recovered and efforts are underway to identify the victims.
