Kharibari, 30th October: Three drug peddlers were arrested with brown sugar from the Kharibari area. The accused have been identified as Sudipta Haldar (35), Sumot Das (20) and Gaurav Poddar (34), residents of Murshidabad district.
Reportedly, Kharibari police station, on the basis of a tip-off, conducted an operation at Gaursingh Jote in Panitanki at the Indo-Nepal border of Kharibari block, and intercepted 250 grams of brown sugar from a vehicle.
The said market value of brown sugar has been estimated at Rs 5 lakh. The Kharibari police station has started an investigation into the possibility of the involvement of others in the smuggling case. Meanwhile, the three accused have been produced in the Siliguri Court.
