Siliguri, 06th June: Pradhan Nagar police arrested three miscreants before they could carry out a planned theft near the Hanuman temple in Mallaguri. The accused have been identified as Ujjwal Chhetri (34) of Sukhia Pokhari, Mukesh Vishwakarma (27) of Mallaguri, and MD Feroz alias Raj (27) of Kalimpong.
According to police sources, on Thursday night, a group of 10-12 individuals had gathered behind the Hanuman temple with the intent to commit a crime. During routine patrolling, undercover officers from Pradhan Nagar police station spotted the group. While most of the suspects managed to flee, three were apprehended at the scene.
The police recovered weapons from the arrested trio and suspect that the gang was planning a theft targeting the temple. All three accused were produced before the Siliguri court on Friday. Efforts are underway to track down the remaining members of the gang. The investigation is ongoing.
