Three arrested with over 300 kilograms of cannabis in Fulbari

Siliguri, 19th December: In a recent development, the officials of the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police station successfully arrested three miscreants in possession of a significant quantity of cannabis. The accused have been identified as Rintu Kumar Prasad, Raju Yadav, and Indradev Prasad, residents of Bihar.


As per reports, the contraband was being smuggled in a hidden compartment in a truck for its clandestine disposal. Acting on a tip-off, the NJP police launched an operation on Monday night and held the vehicle from near a hotel located in Fulbari based on suspicion. During the search, the officials recovered about 321 kilograms of cannabis with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 6 lakhs.

Upon interrogating the suspects, it was revealed that the cannabis was being smuggled from Assam to Bihar. On Tuesday, the accused were presented before the Jalpaiguri Court. Meanwhile, the police are engaged in a detailed investigation of the entire incident.
