Siliguri, 13th July: A team of Special Operation Group and Khalpara police, in a joint operation at Burdwan Road, arrested three people with a huge cache of brown sugar. Reportedly, 300 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 60 lakhs were recovered from the accused.
According to the information, the SOG received a tip-off regarding drug smuggling. Following this, the SOG jointly with Kalpara police launched an operation on Wednesday and arrested three drug peddlers. The accused have been identified as Azizur Rahman and Habibur Sheikh residents of Malda, and Mohammad Nasir of Jhankar More.
Reportedly, Mohammad Nasir reached Burdwan Road to collect the brown sugar from Azizur Rahman and Habibur Sheikh where all the three accused were caught red-handed. In presence of the Deputy Magistrate, the recovered brown sugar was weighted and videographed.
