Naxalbari, 20th May: Police apprehended three individuals involved in the illegal smuggling of sand from the Mechi River. The accused, identified as Umesh Sarki, Manoj Singh, and Ajay Mandal, all residents of Naxalbari, were taken into custody. Alongside the arrests, three tractors laden with smuggled sand were seized during the operation.
According to police sources, the accused were transporting the sand in the tractors without possessing the necessary legal documents. Today, the accused were presented before the Siliguri Divisional Court.
