Rajganj, 25th August: A dumper was seized and its driver arrested by Belakoba Outpost police on Monday night for allegedly transporting stones without the required valid documents. The vehicle was intercepted on the Belakoba-Battala road.
According to police sources, part of the vehicle’s rear number plate was covered with a sticky grease-like substance. Finding the matter suspicious, police searched the dumper and found stones loaded inside. However, the driver allegedly failed to produce valid documents required for transporting the stones.
Police subsequently seized the dumper and arrested the driver, identified as Sujit Roy, a resident of Babu Jote area in Gajoldoba under Malbazar Police Station.
The arrested driver was produced before the Jalpaiguri District Court on Tuesday.
