Cooch Behar, 21st August: A baffling case of theft involving the disappearance of lakhs of rupees from a residence has recently emerged in the Shikarpur market area, falling under the jurisdiction of Mathabhanga Block-I in Cooch Behar.
According to the information, the incident transpired after the family members consumed their Sunday lunch. Following the meal, an unexplainable decline in health, coupled with overwhelming drowsiness, plagued the household. The family members woke up the following morning only to find their residence’s gate locked from the outside, valuables worth about Rs 10 lakh, including both cash and gold items, had been stolen after forcibly breaking into their wardrobe.
Suspicions have arisen that the perpetrators used a drugging tactic to facilitate the theft. The victims suspect that they were rendered unconscious through the adulteration of their food or drink, allowing the theft to occur undisturbed. The incident has raised questions about the audacity and complexity of the crime, as well as the methods employed to accomplish it. Upon receiving the news, the Mathabhanga police promptly intervened, commencing an investigation into the incident.
