Temporary workers of NBMCH stage protest in support of various demands

Siliguri, 04th November: The temporary employees of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital staged an indefinite sit-in protest on Wednesday morning demanding pay hike and job permanency.

Sajal Dutta, joint secretary of the Contractors Workers Union, said that despite putting hours of effort, they are deprived of all facilities. It is to be noted that the Union staged a symbolic protest last month for 3 days. However, their demands have not yet been met. He further warned of staging larger demonstrations if their demands are not met soon.

Meanwhile, NBMCH Superintendent Kaushik Samajdar expressed outrage over the disruption of medical services today and stated that they have already talked to the contractor regarding their demands. If necessary, discussions will be held regarding appointing more workers.
