Siliguri, 28th August: Panic spread in Ward No. 24 under the Siliguri Municipal Corporation after a fire broke out on an electric pole on Friday.
The fire suddenly erupted on the electric pole, following which a high-voltage power line broke and fell onto the road.
After receiving the information, a fire engine reached the spot and brought the blaze under control. Electricity department personnel also arrived at the site and immediately began work to replace the damaged wire.
No casualties were reported in the incident, and no major damage has been reported so far.
Ward No. 24 Coordinator Prasenjit Pal was present at the spot. He said there was no significant damage reported so far, adding that the situation would become clearer once power supply is restored.
