Temple robbed in Siliguri, cash stolen from donation box

Siliguri, 01st June: A burglary was reported at Ramdev Ji Temple in Suryasen Colony Block D, Siliguri. The thieves broke the temple’s donation box and fled away with cash, late Monday night.

The matter came to light after the locals spotted the temple’s gate open and noticed the donation box lying in front of the inner gate, the following morning. Bamboos and wires were found scattered all around the premises. It has been assumed that the thieves might have dragged the donation box out of its original place with the help of these items and eventually fled away with the cash.

Around 35-40 thousand rupees is said to have been stolen from the temple’s donation box, which apparently had not been opened for the last two years.

After the incident, the NJP police started investigation. It is to be noted that another theft was reported in a temple, a few days ago.
