Siliguri, 23rd August: The ‘Village-City Bandhan Cup-2026’ was organized at Khatli, near Gulma in Siliguri to mark the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The event was organized under the initiative of the Siliguri Bandhuchol Welfare Organization and Roy’s Students.
The Siliguri Bandhuchol Welfare Organization has been supporting the education of 20 children from the Khatli area for the past one year. Along with their studies, the children are also encouraged to participate in various social and cultural activities.
As part of the initiative, a football tournament was organized featuring teams comprising boys from both urban and rural areas. A total of three teams participated in the competition, including two teams from the city and one from the village.
The programme began with participants tying Rakhis symbolizing the bond between the rural and urban communities. This was followed by an exchange of gifts between the village and city players. Lunch was also arranged for the participants.
Several prominent personalities attended the event and encouraged the participants.
