Teak wood hidden in a truck full of ginger sacks recovered in Rajganj

Rajganj, 05th August: Forest officials of Belakoba range, acting on a tip-off, launched an operation on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway in Panikauri area of Rajganj and recovered Burma teak wood worth Rs 20 lakh.


Reportedly, the wood was hidden under sacks filled with ginger. The team led by Ranger Sanjay Dutta arrested the driver of the truck, identified as Sunil Kumar who is a resident of Rajasthan.

According to the officials, the wood was being smuggled from Guwahati to Kolkata. The accused is said to be produced in the Jalpaiguri district court tomorrow.
