Teacher accused of sexual assault of minor student in Siliguri, complaint filed at police station

Siliguri, 06th February: A distressing incident surfaced where a teacher has been accused of sexual assault of a minor student. The incident occurred on February 3, while, the matter came to light on Monday night.


According to reports, the minor student from Siliguri took tuition at the residence of a school teacher named MD Alam. On the morning of February 3, the student did not go to study. In response, the teacher first called her but as the student did not answer the call, the teacher called her mother. Finding no response once again, the teacher rang the minor’s elder aunt and asked the student to turn up for tuition at 3:30 pm.

Later in the afternoon, as the student went to study, the teacher allegedly took her to a room on the second floor. According to the student’s statement, the teacher commented on her body and made ill-intentioned advances. The terrified student somehow managed to push the teacher and escape the situation.


Subsequently, on February 4, the student narrated the entire ordeal to her elder sister. Upon learning about the incident, the minor’s sister revealed the incident to the family. In protest, the family reached the teacher’s house where they were allegedly misbehaved and threatened. Following this, the teacher allegedly pretended to be ill and got himself admitted to a nursing home.

On Monday night at around 11 p.m., the student’s family lodged a written complaint against the school teacher at the police station. Significantly, the student herself has written a complaint demanding punishment to the teacher. Sources state that a case will be registered against the accused under the POCSO Act.

Meanwhile, based on the complaint, Siliguri Metropolitan Police has initiated an investigation into the incident. However, the police refrained from commenting regarding the matter at the moment. The victim’s family has demanded stringent punishment for the teacher.
