Balurghat, 25th May: An atmosphere of grief engulfed Balurghat after Tapan block BDO Chogel Moktan Tamang lost his life in a road accident, on Sunday. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed deep sorrow over his sudden demise and expressed condolences to his family.
As per the information, after several migrant workers from Malda entered the Karadaha region Amtali ghat area yesterday afternoon, BDO Tamang immediately headed towards the said area to conduct an inspection, during which the car met with an accident. Tamang and his driver were severely injured in the incident and was immediately rushed to Tapan Gramin Hospital by the locals. However, when his condition deteriorated further, he was admitted to the Balurghat district hospital on behalf of the District administration.
Upon further health deterioration, he was then being brought to Siliguri for treatment. However, the BDO succumbed to his injuries midway.
