Taliban Raj in Bengal, Presidential rule should be imposed: Raju Bista

Siliguri, 17th August: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista expressed outrage over the arrest of BJP leaders and activists in Siliguri. He took a jibe at the state government and said that in West Bengal, Taliban is running the government instead of Trinamool Congress.

It is to recall, tension broke out in Siliguri Hashmi Chowk this morning over BJP Yuva Sankalpa Yatra. Several BJP leaders, workers including MLA Shankar Ghosh were detained. Later, MP Bista went to the Siliguri police station and met the detained BJP activists.

Following this, he addressed the media and highly condemned the incident. He said that the programme was organized to celebrate the 75th Independence Year – ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

“The Trinamool government stopped the programme. These incidents prove that there is no democracy in West Bengal at present. I appeal to the President, Prime Minister, and Home Minister to impose Presidential rule in West Bengal so that the people here can live freely,” he added.
