Siliguri, 27th November: In a significant development, an individual has been arrested by Siliguri police after being involved in a theft case, with all stolen items recovered. The suspect, Palash Mandal, was arrested three months after the crime was committed.
According to police sources, on August 8, a theft occurred near Tarun Tirtha ground in Siliguri, where a house was robbed of items including a camera, power bank, and other valuables. Following the incident, a written complaint was lodged at Siliguri Police Station. Using CCTV footage and confidential sources, the police identified Palash Mandal as the prime suspect of the crime.
Meanwhile, Palash was already under arrest in connection with another case. As a result, the police decided to wait for his release from jail. On Tuesday night, about a week ago after his release, Palash ventured out in search of buyers for the stolen items. During this, Palash was tracked down to Durgadas Colony while looking for customers, and successfully apprehended.
Subsequently, the police recovered the stolen camera, power bank, and other items from his possession. On Wednesday, the accused was presented in Siliguri court.
