Sukhani tea project reopens after 11 days in Rajganj, workers relieved

Rajganj, 30th September: The Sukhani Tea Project of Rajganj reopened after eleven days of closure due to a disagreement between the owner and the employees. The workers are relieved following the reopening of the garden.

According to reports, on September 16, the management of the Sukhani Tea Project in Rajganj issued a shutdown notice as a result of the discontentment between the employees and the owner. The incident left 300 workers unemployed. However, on Saturday morning, the owner ultimately decided to reopen the garden after much deliberation during a meeting held on Friday at the Department of Labour in Jalpaiguri. In alignment with the decision made in the meeting, the tea garden was opened and the relieved workers resumed work.

In this regard, INTTUC leader Tapan Dey claimed that the tea estate owner had declared a lockout due to the disagreement between the owner and the employees. In order to avoid any disruption before the Durga Puja, a decision was made to reopen the garden. However, the garden’s management did not comment on the situation.
