Students and villagers put lives at stake to cross Bhutki River for years in Rajganj

Rajganj, 30th May: Years have passed by in hopes for a bridge to be constructed over the Bhutki river at Gaurmota Gach area under Rajganj Majhiyali gram panchayat. However, the locals are still using the shaky bamboo bridge to go to their destination amid the risk of accidents.

The villagers from both sides of the river including Gaurmota Gach, Badalgach, and Demdema have been suffering for many years. Students have to walk for about 5 km and cross the river using the risky bamboo bridge to reach their schools. According to the locals, crossing the river on the makeshift bridge becomes even harder, especially during monsoon.

Reportedly, the construction work of a paved bridge over the Bhutki river has not been completed and is lying in such a state for the past several years. Despite staging numerous protests, the administration has not completed the work and the locals are forced to use the makeshift bridge to commute.
