Stolen barmatic wood worth 40 lakhs recovered in Siliguri

Siliguri, 11th September: The forest workers of Sarugara Range of Baikunthapur Forest Department arrested a man with stolen wood worth 40 lakh rupees.


Based on a tip-off, the forest workers under the leadership of Sarugara Ranger Sanjay Dutta raided the area near Fulbari Bypass on Saturday morning and detained a wood-laden lorry. The forest department then arrested lorry driver Aftar Singh in the incident.

According to the forest department, barmatic wood worth 40 lakh rupees was being transported from Myanmar to Rajasthan via Manipur. The forest department has started an investigation into the whole incident.
