State Tourism Minister adopts unique initiatives to keep children engaged during COVID-19 lockdown

Siliguri, 27th April: Children are the most vulnerable section of society right now as schools across the country are closed and they are forced to be at home day in and day out. During such a lockdown period, children and teenagers are found to be physically less active and are seen spending unlimited screen time.


In this regard, the State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb adopted a fancy initiative to keep children engaged during lockdown with productive quarantine activities. It has been learned that children can now participate in various online contests through social media platforms. Attractive prizes have also been arranged for the winners.

During a press conference on Monday, the Minister stated that the initiative has been taken with the assistance of the Cultural Association of North Bengal. He further maintained that the competition has been mainly divided into 3 sections-Siliguri Sub-Divisional Council, Siliguri Municipal Corporation, and the Dabgram-Fulbari Block.


Deb announced that students will be able to participate in music contests, sit and draw competition, recitation, science-based model construction, essay-letter writing, and many more. However, he further added that the articles to be written by the contestants will be collected by the representatives after the lockdown period gets over.
