Special compartments introduced in Darjeeling’s Toy Train 

Siliguri, 26th September: Travelling to the majestic hills of Darjeeling will just get better with a new coach that has been added to the world-famous Toy Train. This compartment will comprise a restaurant coach and AC Vistadome which left from NJP station today for Darjeeling. The addition of the coach is specially designed keeping in mind the tourists during the Puja season. The train service was formally inaugurated at New Jalpaiguri station during which, the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway Ansul Gupta, MP Raju Bista, Union Minister of State John Barla, and others were present.


Tourists can enjoy the beauty of nature while enjoying food sitting in the Vistadome coach as well as the restaurant coach. According to railway information, the train will run on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday every week. At the same time, this toy train will leave Darjeeling station on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday and reach NJP. The fare for the Vistadome coach has been fixed at Rs 1500 per passenger and the fare for the restaurant coach has been fixed at Rs 1300 per passenger.

In order to further develop the train services, the said coach has been introduced to make the journey more comfortable and better. It is to be noted that due to incessant rain, the toy train service was stalled for several days due to landslides at many places in the hills. However, the situation has been brought back to normal by clearing the debris of the landslide. After which the toy train services have resumed again in the hills from today.
