Siliguri, 30th December: In a joint operation conducted by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police and Bagdogra Police on Wednesday night, a drugs peddler was arrested with brown sugar worth Rs 20 lakh. The arrested has been identified as Sujan Mandal (30), a resident of Kaliachak in Malda district.
According to the information, based on a tip-off, a campaign was launched at Bihar More of Bagdogra last night. The suspect was successfully nabbed and searched. During the search, 102 grams of brown sugar was recovered from the accused. The estimated market value of the seized brown sugar is said to be Rs 20 lakh. Bagdogra police today produced the accused in Siliguri court.
