Siliguri, 23rd August: The ‘Nyaya Sanhita Exhibition’ is underway at the Kawakhali ground in Siliguri, aiming to raise public awareness about the country’s transformed criminal justice system and the three new criminal laws- the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). Union Home Minister Amit Shah formally inaugurated the exhibition on August 21.
The exhibition aims to explain various aspects of the new criminal laws to the general public in an accessible and engaging manner. Special emphasis has been placed on involving young people and college students in the initiative.
Through a series of stalls and presentations, the exhibition highlights the key changes introduced under the new laws, including the shift from the earlier criminal laws, changes in citizens’ rights and legal procedures, and the growing use of technology in the justice system.
The new criminal laws place a strong emphasis on creating a citizen-centric and technology-driven criminal justice system, with technology playing an important role in making legal procedures more efficient and accessible.
A key feature of the exhibition is the active participation of college students and youth. The initiative seeks to familiarise young people with the provisions of the new laws, citizens’ rights and procedural changes, while also encouraging them to spread awareness about legal reforms within the wider community.
