SMC takes initiatives for river renovation work in Subhas Pally

Siliguri, 13th June: The Fuleshwari river is lying in a pitiful condition due to excessive dumping of garbage. As the way to the river is blocked, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation has stepped forward to eliminate the issue. The Safai workers have begun removing the garbage and cutting soil.


On Sunday, the river renovation work commenced in Subhas Pally. Ranjan Sarkar, a member of the BoA at SMC, reached the spot for inspection.

Sarkar said that Fuleshwari and Jorapani rivers have been blocked in different places. Hence, such an initiative has been taken. Besides, an appeal was made so that no one throws garbage, thermocol, plastic in the river. Discussions will be held with every market committee to raise awareness on the matter.


On the other hand, while inspecting the river in Subhas Pally, he noticed that some traders are conducting business by illegally occupying the road in the market. They have been strictly asked to stop blocking roads.
