SMC opens relief fund amid COVID-19 pandemic

Siliguri, 27th May: The Board of Administrators at Siliguri Municipal Corporation opened a relief fund in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.


SMC administrator Goutam Deb held a press conference on Thursday and stated that the money raised by the people in the relief fund would be used for the needs of helpless people in the city. Financial assistance will also be provided to the family members of the ones who have died due to COVID-19.


Deb deposited his earlier councilor’s allowance of 1 lakh 57 thousand rupees in the fund. He also personally contributed another 11 thousand rupees to the relief fund. He handed over an oxygen concentrator to SMC, which will be kept at Rabindra Mancha and will be monitored from SMC itself.
