SMC launches campaign against unauthorized hoardings and parking on PWD land

Siliguri, 07th March: In a recent development, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has launched a campaign against unauthorized hoardings and parking. On Thursday, unauthorized hoardings and parking on PWD land from the Bhakti Nagar police station to the Payal Cinema Hall area were removed under the leadership of MMIC of SMC Rajesh Prasad Sha (Munna).


It must be noted that PWD (Public Works Department) had complained to the SMC regarding the land encroachment. Subsequently, the officials of PWD and SMC prepared a list of unauthorized hoardings and parking on the PWD land. During this, the officials discovered that the land from Bhakti Nagar police station to Payal Cinema Hall had been infringed upon. Subsequently, the SMC issued a directive to eradicate all the unauthorized hoardings and parking, prompting the authorities to launch a campaign on Thursday on PWD land at Payal Cinema Hall near Bhakti Nagar police station.

In this regard, MMIC of Siliguri Municipal Corporation Rajesh Prasad Sha (Munna) stated that a campaign has been launched to remove unauthorized hoardings and parking from PWD land. He added that the SMC was incurring losses in taxation due to such illegal activities. Furthermore, he stated that the campaign of the corporation would remain ongoing.
