SMC election 2022: Trinamool-BJP’s fight becomes easier in Ward no- 11 as CPIM-Congress did not field any candidate

Siliguri, 04th January: The nomination phase for the upcoming SMC election ended on Monday.

After the end of the nomination period, it has been learned that CPIM and Congress did not field any candidate in ward no. 11. BJP has fielded Manjushree Paul in Ward No. 11. On the other hand, Trinamool has nominated Uma Goel. For the last few weeks, Congress has been discussing seat agreements with CPIM. However, both the parties did not field candidates in Ward No. 11.

Left Front leader Ashok Bhattacharya said, “We could not field a candidate due to organizational weakness. However, it has not yet been decided who our activists and supporters will vote for in that ward.”

On the other hand, Congress district president Shankar Malakar said that the time allotted for submission of nominations was not enough and we had to struggle to select the candidates. In Ward no-11, we had fielded candidates but could not submit nominations on time.
