Siliguri, 18th July: Situated on the premises of Kanchenjunga Stadium, the Bikash Ghosh Memorial Swimming pool has been closed for a very long time. People from different strata of age come to learn swimming for a very reasonable fee in this pool.
However, swimming learners and aspiring swimmers are facing difficulty due to the closure of the pool for various reasons. During the COVID pandemic, the pool was completely shut down. Later, the pool was opened but for a very short period of time and was soon closed.
Siliguri Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor, Ranjan Sarkar assured to re-open the pool in a new form. Ranjan Sarkar further stated that the Kanchenjunga stadium has been assigned by the state government to SMC for further development and care. This was cited as the reason to close the pool as it is under process. The pool premises will shortly reopen for everyone to learn their swimming lessons.
