Siliguri, 05th June: On the occasion of World Environment Day, today, a peaceful procession was organized by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation at Siliguri. The program was attended by Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb, Deputy Mayor, Ranjan Sarkar, Municipal Commissioner, Sonam Wangdi Bhutia, and Councilors and Members of the Mayor’s Council.
According to reports, the procession started from Baghajatin Park in Siliguri and circumambulated various routes of the city, and concluded at the Kanchenjunga Stadium, where, various cultural as well as other programs were organized. In addition, by means of various illustrations, the message of environmental awareness was conveyed in the procession. Speaking at the occasion, the Mayor said that, World Environment Day is being celebrated across the country today, following which, efforts are being made to make the city green.
