SMC and Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad provide financial assistance to traders affected by the Naxalbari Bazar Fire

Naxalbari, 18th October: In a commendable initiative to support the traders affected in the Naxalbari Bazar fire, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the Siliguri Mahkuma Parishad collaborated and distributed cheques to 38 impacted traders.


According to reports, on Wednesday, SMC Mayor Goutam Deb and Arun Ghosh, the Chairman of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, on behalf of SMC and Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, presented a cheque for Rs 40,000 to each affected vendor.

The mayor stated that SMC and the Mahakuma Parishad helped in arranging the relief fund. He further criticized the BJP legislators and MPs and highlighted their negligence towards the affected traders. Further, the central government’s assistance in the Sikkim tragedy, but lack of cooperation in Kalimpong, infuriated the mayor.


On the other hand, Matigara-Naxalbari BJP MLA Anandamoy Barman stood by the victims and added his one month’s worth of salary to the Naxalbari Byabsayee Samiti on this day. He further assured to stand by the victims in the upcoming days.
