SMC allots land to families affected by national highway expansion in Siliguri

Siliguri, 28th November: Siliguri Municipal Corporation has distributed land pattas to families whose properties were affected by the expansion of the National Highway. The land allocation aims to provide alternate housing to those forced to evacuate by the project.


According to reports, the four-lane road expansion project is underway from Matigara to Salugara. As a result, about 31 families from Ward No. 45 and Ward No. 02 were displaced from their homes. In efforts to assist these families, the SMC has provided land pattas, offering them new plots to settle in.

On Thursday, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, along with other municipal officials and councilors, distributed the land documents to the affected families at the Siliguri Municipal Corporation office.


The families have been allotted land in Ward No. 46 by the state government. Mayor Gautam Deb assured that these families would soon receive homes under the Bengal Housing Scheme and provided with proper accommodation in the future.
