Siliguri, 06th February: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel detained a man travelling with Rs 40 lakh at the Bagdogra Airport today.
Bagdogra Airport Director P. Subramaniam, through a telephonic conversation, informed that the CISF personnel caught a person with a huge sum of money during checking at the airport. The detained was then taken to the local police.
The man has been identified as Dilip Agrawal, a well renowned real estate agent of the city. He was later handed over to the officials of the Income Tax Department.
According to the information, Dilip Agarwal was travelling to an unknown location disguised as a VIP. When the security personnel grew suspicious of him, they stopped him and kept his bag in the screening machine. During the checking, the huge sum of cash hidden inside the bag was discovered.
As soon as the matter came to light, the CISF personnel took Dilip Agarwal under their custody and reported the local police and Income Tax Department regarding the issue. The Income Tax team reached the spot and took Dilip along with them. While he is being interrogated at the moment, an investigation has been initiated. Further details awaited.
