Siliguri, 06th November: In yet another incident of cyber fraud, Swarnabo Ghosh, a resident of Ward No. 19 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), was tricked by cybercriminals into squandering Rs 50,000.
According to reports, Swarnabo Ghosh works under a private company. A few days prior he obtained a vendor loan worth Rs 10,000 from the SMC. A few days following the deduction of the EMI of the loan, he received a call that informed him that the loan he took would be subsidized. Subsequently, he was mailed a link. To his surprise, upon entering his password and clicking on the link, Rs 50,000 was immediately debited from his bank account.
Following the incident, the victim promptly filed a formal complaint at the Cybercrime Police Station.
