Siliguri’s Ward No. 04 residents block Burdwan Road against water shortage

Siliguri, 08th July: Drinking water services have been interrupted for the last few days in Ward No. 04 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Angry residents of the ward expressed their outrage by blocking Burdwan Road this afternoon. They alleged that the drinking water supply was suspended for several days.

With the recent rise in temperature in the city, residents of the ward are furious over the interruption of water supply amid the scorching heat without any prior notice. Although two water tanks were sent by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, however, the supply was only enough for a few families.

Demanding normalization of drinking water service, residents staged a road blockade at Burdwan Road with empty buckets and containers. Later Khalpara Out Post police reached the spot and talked the angry mob into lifting the blockade. Ward Councilor Vivek Singh later reached the area to take stock of the situation.
