Siliguri’s Shyamal Pal creates national record, wins three gold medals in 04th National Masters Games 

Siliguri 22nd May: Siliguri’s Shyamal Pal created a national record by winning three gold medals, in the fourth National Masters Games held in Kerela. The 65-year-old is a retired SI from Siliguri Police Commissionerate and a resident of Sukanta Pally in Siliguri. He also became the state champion in athletics in West Bengal in 1989.
In the 4th National Master Games held in Trivandrum, Kerala, Shyamal Pal created a national record of 100 meters in just 13 seconds and 200 meters in 28.22, and also in the triple jump with a jump of 9.11 meters. He finished second in the 4x100m relay and won a silver medal in the 65-year-old category.
Reportedly, he used to exercise regularly while working in the police, and after retirement, he was determined to become a professional athlete and participated in the 4th National Master Games and created a legacy. 
Adding to the Women’s category Siliguri’s Pramila Barman won the silver medal in the 200m sprint.
