Siliguri’s deteriorated Burdwan Road affecting traffic and inconveniencing motorists

Siliguri, 05th July: Traffic jam was already an issue and now the deteriorated road has been added to the list of problems on Burdwan Road. This is one of the busiest roads in the city of Siliguri. A flyover being constructed on this road has been lying unfinished for over two years. Due to this, the road has become narrow and to top is all off, potholes and craters have surfaced on the road. All of which are affecting the traffic and inconveniencing the motorists.
Even after a light shower, potholes on several hundred meters of road from the Jhankar More get waterlogged. While lorries and buses manage to pass over the potholes, two-wheeler riders have a tough time. Totos overturning due to the potholes have become a regular phenomenon. Furthermore, large goods vehicles travel through the road as the traffic has been diverted due to the closure of Balasan Bridge. This is further eroding the road.
In this regard, the local councilor Pintu Ghosh stated that the road has many potholes and many vehicles pass through this road due to the closure of Balsan Bridge. The middle section of the road was repaired but due to heavy rain in the past few weeks, it could not last for long. He further added that the problem is being discussed with the corporation’s Deputy Mayor and soon a solution will be provided.
