Siliguri’s Demu Shed area’s residents breathe a sigh of relief after capturing leopard

Siliguri, 30th January: Panic had ensued for the past few days in the area of Siliguri’s Junction’s Demu Shed with leopard terror. Finally, on Monday morning the terror marked its end with the capture of the said leopard by the Forest Department.

It is to be noted that, the presence of wild leopard in and around the DEMU shed was being felt by the residents for a long time. Despite conducting a search for many days, the forest department could not find the animal. However, on Monday morning the locals found the leopard trapped in a cage installed by the forest department. As soon as the news was received, the forest personnel reached the spot and rescued the leopard. Sources said it will be decided later when and where the leopard is released.

A few days back, some railway employees while working in the Demu shed area of the junction spotted the leopard in the bushes. During this, an employee shot a video on his mobile phone. After watching the video, the forest workers started searching for the leopard. To catch the leopard, a cage was installed in the area. In the greed for food, the leopard wandered into the cage. Meanwhile, a crowd of people gathered in the area to see the leopard. The forest officials somehow dispersed the crowd and took away the caged leopard.
