Siliguri, 19th August: Sensation prevailed after the body of a woman, identified as Lalita Poddar, was recovered from her house in the Siliguri Majhabari area, last Sunday. In a new turn of events, the NJP Police recovered the body of the deceased’s ex-lover, which was found hanging from a noose on Wednesday morning.
It is to recall that the death of Lalita created a stir in the entire region. Her family members alleged that their daughter was murdered. The Bhaktinagar police and Ashighar Outpost police reached the spot as soon as the news was received.
Meanwhile, the Ashighar outpost police are searching for Ram Prasad Poddar, Lalita’s husband, who has been absconding since the incident.
Reportedly, the deceased youth, identified as Sourav Barman, is a resident of Ambikanagar area. It has been learned that Barman’s body was recovered on Tuesday from his grandmother’s house located in the More Bazar area.
In this context, Sourav’s friend Subrata Roy stated that Lalita had been in a long-term love affair with Sourav before her marriage. However, her family disapproved of the relationship.
‘After learning about Lalita’s sudden demise, my friend seemed depressed. We also talked over the phone yesterday.’, he stated.
The Police have launched an investigation into the whole incident.
