Siliguri: Two arrested, nine detained for duping youths on pretext of providing govt jobs

Siliguri 19th May: Pradhan Nagar police arrested two women from a fake job consultancy, for duping several unemployed on the pretext of providing government jobs. The two accused have been identified as Sithi Das (28) and Ankita Das Gupta (21). The matter came to light, when a young man and a woman who fell victim to the forgery of the institution, lodged a written complaint at the Pradhan Nagar police station.
Reportedly, in November last year, an organization in the area adjacent to Margaret School under the Pradhan Nagar police station, published an advertisement in the newspaper regarding job vacancies. After reading the article several unemployed youths from Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and various other regions reached Siliguri. 
Allegedly, the applicants were charged Rs 600 for registration and were demanded 17 thousand rupees in the name of training for 17 days. Believing their claims, many paid the demanded amount, but even after 6 months, not a single was recruited. Therefore a complaint was lodged at Pradhan Nagar police station. Based on this the police detained nine persons and arrested two women. They were produced in Siliguri Court today.
