Siliguri Times’ journalists attacked while covering COVID-19 lockdown

Siliguri, 18th April: Despite the media being classified as essential service during the lockdown, reports have emerged of journalists being attacked while enforcing COVID-19 lockdown measures in various parts of the city. 


On Saturday, another such news surfaced from Siliguri’s Haider Para Ghugni More area after two journalists of Siliguri Times were attacked by a group of lockdown violators.

As per the report, the attack took place when 7 youths, who were consuming liquor in front of a shop in the said area were interrupted by our journalists. Upon questioning their irresponsible action, six of them immediately fled away from the scene while the other physically attacked our correspondents and even broke our media equipment


The violators managed to escape, however, liquor bottles and glasses were recovered from the spot. The incident was immediately reported to the Bhaktinagar police.
