Siliguri Sub-Division Sports Council organized a women’s football tournament for the first time

Siliguri, 13th September: The Siliguri Sub-Division Sports Council has organized for the first time a women’s football tournament in Siliguri. The tournament commenced last Sunday at Siliguri’s Kangchenjunga Stadium. A total of 12 teams participated in the tournament. The final match of the tournament will be played on September 22.


At the same time, today there was a match between Siliguri Kishore Sangha vs Atharakhai Sarojini Sangha. The Atharakhai Sarojini Sangha defeated Siliguri Kishore Sangh by a 2-1 goal. Reportedly, the main objective of this football tournament is to form a district team with 30 women footballers who will represent the district at the state level.

Furthermore, Rs 15,000 will be awarded to the champion team while Rs 10,000 will be awarded to the runner-up team and Rs 5,000 to the fair play team. At the same time, other awards including Best Goalkeeper, Best Scorer, and Man of the Match are also included.


On this occasion, the Football Secretary of council, Saurabh Bhattacharya, Executive Committee member Anup Bose, and other dignitaries were present in the said tournament.
