Siliguri, 19th February: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police has been continuously running campaigns to make Siliguri a drug-free city. Likewise, on Saturday, the SOG team ransacked a house that was being used as a godown to store illegal narcotics.
The said godown was located inside a house in Chandra Park Mahananda Para near Modern Boys Club under Ward No. 04 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The SOG team recovered a huge quantity of intoxicating tablets and banned cough syrup from the location.
According to SOG, the team raided the said house after receiving a tip-off. A substantial amount of narcotics was recovered during the raid. Three people including the owner of the house have been taken into custody for questioning. Also, the search for other people who might also be involved in the racket has been initiated.
It is to be noted, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police launched the ‘No To Drugs’ campaign in the year 2021 to make Siliguri city drug free. Since then, drugs worth Rs 46 crore have been recovered under the campaign.
