Siliguri RMC fish market closed, Siliguri Wholesale Fish Merchant Association submits a memorandum to Darjeeling DM

Siliguri, 12th June: Following the announcement regarding the closure of the Siliguri Regulated Market’s fish market for 7 days, the Wholesale Fish Merchant Association, on Friday, handed over a memorandum to the Darjeeling DM.

On behalf of the Association, it was stated that the traders will have to bear a loss of nearly 40 lakh rupees due to the closure of the fish market. The decision will also lead to a severe crisis in the fish industry of North Bengal.

In this context, Bapi Chowdhury, Secretary of the Association, stated that fishes worth lakhs are stored inside the shops of the fish market. If the fishes are not taken out immediately, they will gradually start rotting and lead to various problems. He further stated that through the memorandum, the Siliguri Wholesale Fish Merchant Association urged the administration to provide them some time to retrieve the stored fishes.
