Siliguri, 26th June: An elderly woman from Purba Chayan Para under Dabgram-II Anchal has alleged that her relatives fraudulently took possession of her property and gold and silver ornaments. The accused include her nephew, Dipankar Das. The elderly woman is currently without a home, according to the complaint.
According to allegations, Minati Das had purchased land several years ago and built a house where she had been residing. Following the death of her husband, she had been living alone. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused allegedly gained her trust and gradually transferred all her land into their own name.
The elderly woman further alleged that her relatives took away a substantial quantity of gold and silver ornaments kept in her locker by threatening her with action by central investigating agencies. She claimed that after taking control of her property and valuables, she was forced to leave her house.
The matter has now reached the courts, with both parties seeking legal recourse. On Friday, Minati Das staged a sit-in protest in front of the house. On receiving information, police from Ashighar Outpost reached the spot and initiated an investigation after hearing both sides.
Local residents alleged that the accused had deceived the elderly woman and taken control of her assets. They demanded strict action against Dipankar Das and his family.
