Siliguri records two more black fungus deaths

Siliguri, 08th June: Two more people infected with mucormycosis, commonly known as black fungus, died in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital today.

According to hospital sources, one of the deceased was a worker of Meteli’s Indong Tea Garden and the other was a resident of Chayanpara in Siliguri. Both were infected with coronavirus earlier and had recovered from the infection.

However, as they fell sick once again, they were admitted to NBMCH, where they tested positive for the black fungus. They breathed their last on Tuesday morning even before their treatment could start.
