Siliguri, 01st August: Siliguri Metropolitan Police returned 70 recovered mobile phones to their rightful owners on Saturday amid increasing incidents of mobile theft, snatching and loss. The programme was organised at Siliguri Police Station premises.
During the event, ACP Robin Thapa and IC Prabir Das created awareness among citizens about cyber crimes and safety measures. They advised people that reporting a lost mobile phone at the police station alone is not enough and urged them to immediately inform their banks to secure UPI and other banking services.
Police informed that the mobile phones were recovered after investigations into several cases registered in recent months.
The owners expressed appreciation for the police after receiving their phones back. Police also appealed to citizens to use strong passwords, enable screen locks and avoid clicking on suspicious links to prevent cyber fraud.
