Siliguri Police Commissionerate DD and SOG arrest two for duping people on pretext of providing jobs

Siliguri, 16th July: Two people were arrested by a team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and Detective Department (DD) of Siliguri Metropolitan Police for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing government jobs. The matter came to light after one of the victims, Uttam Roy of Hemkumari Master Para, Haldibari in Cooch Behar district lodged a complaint at Pradhan Nagar police station.


The two accused have been identified as Amit Mondol (39) of Deshbandhu Para, Siliguri, and his associate Subhashree Modak (25) of B.B.D. Colony, Pradhan Nagar, Siliguri.

As per the complaint, Amit Mondol runs a job consultancy called Ideal Career Consultancy in the Pradhan Nagar area. The two accused collected Rs 1.30 lakh each from Uttam Roy and 13 others, with the total amount adding up to approximately Rs. 15 lakh, assuring them of providing government jobs. However, not a single person was recruited for any government job and the complainants believed they had been cheated of their money.


Following this, a team from the DD and SOG of Siliguri Police Commissionerate conducted a raid at the consultancy and arrested the two accused persons. The duo will be presented before the Ld Court tomorrow and necessary follow up actions are being taken.
