Siliguri, 14th October: Siliguri Police Commissioner C Sudhakar took to the streets on Mahalaya to inspect the security arrangements of the city ahead of the Durga Puja. The Commissioner arrived at Lal Mohan Moulik Niranjan Ghat today.
According to reports, on Saturday morning, a huge gathering of devotees arrived at the ghat to offer “Tarpan” (honor ancestral souls) on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya. During this, the Commissioner of Police arrived at the Ghat to inspect proactive measures undertaken for crowd control and safety. The Commissioner also inspected the road leading towards Kumartuli.
Speaking in this regard, the Commissioner stated that prior to the Durga Puja, tight security arrangements would prevail in the city. He added that police and civil defense teams were stationed at the Ghat. In addition, the Police Commissioner will also visit several Puja Pandals to analyze security arrangements.
